Conversational Onboarding
Onboard users through the same experience they use every day in the app — conversation. A messaging app where people text and call customers; onboarding happens in-flow.
Conversational bot
After studying onboarding in similar apps, I introduced a bot named Jane who assists during onboarding. An avatar and name make the flow feel personal and closer to real use.
First, users learn about recording a custom voicemail: Jane explains what voicemail is, plays an example, and offers setup. The step stays optional so people can skip if they already know the flow.
Continue to onboard
If the user continues, they get a link to record voicemail. When they return, Jane congratulates them and points to where they can change it later.
Skip
If they skip, they can still set up voicemail later. Jane then moves on to the next onboarding step — making a phone call.
